About

A relatively new breed of pup, the Alaskan Klee Kai are energetic and intelligent dogs that have been bred as companion dogs. They are a highly intelligent, clean, curious, and active breed that is extremely loyal and loving with their ‘family’ and reserved with strangers.

The Klee Kai is listed number two in the Rare Breeds of the World Top 10. One of our fundamental goals is to provide Australian families with a perfect Klee Kai and we believe in the testing process that Australian breeders are bound by to maintain integrity of the breed.

‘Ikolik’ and ‘Roxie’ were mature dogs when they were brought to Australia. As of 2017 ‘Ikolik’ and ‘Roxie’ are enjoying life in their retirement.

Their daughters ‘Nakita’, ‘Kiani’ and ‘Amari’ have been an absolute joy to watch as they grow and mature and will continue with our breeding program.

In May 2017 we will be welcoming a new male addition ‘Raiden’ to our kennel imported from Virginia Skiby in California.

All of our dogs have been comprehensively health tested and the results of those tests are available upon request.

Although currently the Klee Kai is not recognised here in Australia as a breed, we are working with both the American and Australian governing bodies to make this happen as soon as we can.

If you do decide that a Klee Kai is the dog for you we offer you a lifetime of support and assistance with your dog.

Your puppy will also come to you well socialised, raised and nurtured within a family environment and will have had extensive exposure to children and a range of farm animals.

In the interest of keeping the breed pure here in Australia, all puppies that leave Southern Starr’s Klee Kai will be spayed and neutered. We hate the thought that random matings will destroy the introduction of this breed to Australia and wish to maintain the highest standard we can to further encourage the breed.
